B.C.’s Custom Turkey Calls

It started with an obsession for turkey hunting that inspired a newly found talent. From soft calling gobblers in the bottomlands, to belly crawling on strutting toms through the fields, turkey hunting is never the same in which it is the hunter’s chess game. As I battled the best eyes of the woods, I learned that turkeys have their own language with many subtle sounds that can alarm each other or can bring them to your side. And in order to speak their language, a good turkey call does the trick.

After studying the various styles of turkey calls, I find the slate style call to be the best for speaking the language as well as being user friendly to beginners and seasoned hunters. And so, I began making slate calls with a style that is classic and artistic because I believe a turkey hunter should have a turkey call that sounds like a real hen turkey and looks like a work of art that can be passed down through the generations. Ol' Number 19

There was one turkey call that was never sold because it stood out from the rest. It was a strange phenomenon to behold and to hear. It's sweet and soft tones were like music, and it's loud tones would ring like a siren's call to any turkey who heard its voice. For the many seasons to follow, it remains in my turkey vest as my go to turkey call. It maybe Ol' Number 19, but it's number one in the maker's eyes.
